REFRESH. RESET. REINVENT.

Given the challenges we face each day in our various lives, inwardly, a lot of us have given up and all we are doing is just tagging along with life. We are unnecessarily depressed and frustrated not knowing what to do or where to go. There are also those times when you come to an even more difficult point in your journey, and the urge to end it all comes, or the urge to go the other way becomes very strong when what you really need is an affirmation to let go of your current life and begin a new one.  People are committing suicide every day when the answers are right there under their nose. George Elliot said that “It’s never too late to be who you might have been.” Therefore no matter how old you are, or how many mistakes you’ve made along the way, you can always retrace your steps and take the necessary actions to rediscover and achieve your true purpose in life.

“We attain freedom as we let go of whatever does not reflect our magnificence. A bird cannot fly high or far with a stone tied to its back. But release the impediment, and we are free to soar to unprecedented heights.” – Alan Cohen in this quote affirms that nothing can hold you back unless YOU let it. The sky is the limit when you release what’s keeping you from moving forward.

It doesn’t take this big, grand display of courage to make a change in your life. Sometimes, all you need to do is make the decision that you WILL begin exploring a new path.

Most times Lot is not just a human being. It could be any other weight that besets you. Very often we carry our Lot into our future.

Lot is a veil that stops you from seeing beyond your imagination, beyond your situation and underates your capacity to achieve.

This season we are in calls for innovation and creativity. It calls for stamina and strength. This is not the time to quit rather it’s a time to review our life strategies.

This is the time to take stock. It is time to refresh, reset and reinvent yourself. Yes it is doable. The question is how?

Review  and Be Self Aware

“The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide you’re not going to stay where you are.” — John Pierpont Morgan

You must know where you are and accept your true position and its realities. Most times our problems start with our refusal to accept who we are and our true position. A good self-assessment will help you to know your limitations and your strengths. It will help you to set goals and set boundaries.  More importantly it helps you to build your personal brand and cut a niche for yourself.

Take stock. Carry out an inventory of what  you already have, what you are yet to have, your talents, strengths, shortcomings, friends, supporters, rivals, competition, family etc. Be grateful for what you have and reflect on them. Thereafter, make a list of what you don’t have.  A list of what you don’t have may give you cause to be grateful as well as a source of inspiration. Is there anything stopping you from having them?

Knowing and accepting who you are will stabilize you and help you find inner peace as well as build your self-confidence and self-esteem.  Being self-aware could help to unravel an ability in you that is under-estimated or un-tried through lack of opportunity, encouragement, confidence or training. It could also bring out a natural ability or aptitude that you never realised you possessed. There are many tools on the internet that will help you in this process.

Reset

So you are very far away from achieving your life goals and you don’t even seem to have any clue how it will happen. Your full potential is not manifestingand you are unable to meet up.Big deal. When your clock or watch is moving too fast or not moving at all or its slow what do you do? You never throw it away. YOU RESET. So why do you give up on yourself?

Stop for a minute and ask yourself what else to do to come to your place of destiny. This is not the time to give up. Quitters do not and will NEVER win.

Stop doing things the way you used to do it. Take a challenge to transform your life. No body promised you it's going to be easy or that the road will be smooth but be rest assured that if you take up this challenge you will be on a path to recovery. Take a 30 day challenge and write down new activities that can bring you back to form. Create daily visual reminders in your challenge with pictures of yourself or even role models etc.

See yourself as a human device that needs a hard reset which is a hardware operation that ends ALL current software operations in the system, in this case your old strategies, plans and ideas that have failed and restart a new operating system. Try it . It really works.

What some of us need right now is a factory reset which is the master resetand not an early retirement plan! Reset. Reset. Reset.

No More Excuses

According to John C. Maxwell, the number one leadership expert, excuses will exit you from who you were meant to be and shrink your stature. Stop blaming people for your inability to achieve. Stop recounting what people did to you and how they were clogs in your wheel. These are weights you do not need on your journey to the peak of the ladder. Stop seeing your limitations rather see your strengths. Stop seeing threats and see opportunities. Never allow excuses to weigh you down. Learn to drop the past and P.U.S.H. (push until something happens) forward.

Change Your Focus

Be mission and goal oriented rather than position oriented. If you understand your mission and goal in life and focus on it, God himself will propel you to your position. See yourself always as one on a mission and let your focus be how to achieve that mission irrespective of the challenges on your way. Have you discovered your mission in life?

Remove focus from yourself. Remove focus from your situation.  You are on a journey. There is a reason for what you are going through right now. Whatever you are going through right now cannot stop you from fulfilling your purpose in life. Stop being hindrance conscious or“hinderance-motivated”. Be goal motivated. Be success inspired.

Recalculate & Reinvest

Recalculating involves asking the following questions

Am I prepared to start all over again? Do I have what it takes to start again?

Will I be able to face the shame and the scorn? Am I too old to make a fresh start?

Can I forsake my old ways, habits? There is only one answer to all these questions.

YES. YES. YES.

Re-Invent

Having survived the operating room of recalculating and reinvesting, its time to take the bull by the horn and present yourself in a new form or with a new image, new strategies, new thinking and new opportunities. Take a plunge. Have faith in God and do something you have never done before.  Be bold and let go of the old things; acknowledge and accept the new things at all levels, social, mental, physical and even spiritual. The choice to reinvent is yours alone. Imagine and create the future you want and go back to your visual reminders. See yourself at the new place.

Manage Yourself

Finally stop having a pity-party. Pull yourself together. Take up the challenge and GO FORWARD. Remember always that you are irreplaceable and so make the best of you and leave a legacy of greatness.

Wow. This text is inspirational and motivating to put ones life back on track. It's a masterpiece

Thank you Ikeoluwa. I pray that you will be guided in life by some of these nuggets.

This is indeed a thought provoking piece! Many are filled with regrets today because the fear of what men will say kept them from resetting and reinventing themselves! It's never too late to reset and reinvent oneself once you're sure of the direction to go. Once the first step is taken, God will give grace to see it through. It may not be easy, but the joy of knowing that you are doing the right thing will keep you motivated. Better to be slow in the right lane than stalled in the wrong lane regardless of how far you've travelled! This may be the time for some to change lane!

Wow! Thank you for putting it so well. Indeed life lanes may be dinghy, or dead but the most important thing is to recognise the challenges on whichever lane you are and know when to change lanes or adjust to another side of it.

Thank you so much my Big Sis!! Each time I read your words or listen to you speak, I so encouraged that at last more women are awakening to being there for each other.
I read the above acticle yesterday night and again am having a better appreciation and insight to that which I need to do as an individual. The time to act is now and by each person doing his bit.
Thank you again and Please do not stop for my sake and others who look unto you

Thank you. I am glad this is useful.
